‘Nana’ Nets 5 Goals as Lady Jets Beat DeKalb

Cumberland County freshman Mariana “Nana” Alva isn’t wasting time making her soccer skills known across the Upper Cumberland.

The talented newcomer led the Lady Jets to an impressive 6-1 victory over DeKalb County in District 6AA soccer action Tuesday evening in Smithville as she scored five goals.

Along with Alva’s performance, CCHS senior Grace Baldwin found the back of the net once to make 6 total.

DeKalb County falls to 4-5-1 overall and 2-3 in district play with the loss. Up next, the Lady Tigers host White County on Thursday.

Cumberland County improves to 10-5 overall and 5-1 in district play. Cumberland County will take Thursday off before hosting cross-town rival Stone Memorial (6-5-1) on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
